How does an online course work?

An online course is very similar to a ‘face to face’ presentation where a group of practitioners assemble in a venue and listen to a presentation. The only significant differences between an online course and a face-to-face presentation is that online course participants don’t share the same physical location as the presenter.

This ‘virtual’ attendance is particularly advantageous for practitioners who live in provincial towns or in semi-isolated locations and other circumstances where attending face to face events is challenging. The online arena also facilitates experts from other countries sharing their expertise internationally, without geographical barriers.

Do I need to watch the courses at a particular time?

No, you do not need to be online at a particular time to watch your Acupuncture Professional course. When you purchase a course, it will be available in your account for 1 year. You may login to the website at any time to take the course.

Do I have to take the course in one sitting?

No, you may take the course at your own pace. Our modular format allows you to easily watch a 1 1/2 – 2 hour video and complete a module, so you can easily watch a module when you have a spare minute, such as on your lunch break. You can pause your course, and may continue from that point the next time you login.

Acupuncture Professional offers a broad range of events to meet the needs of practitioners and accrediting agencies. Topics are categorized as one of the following:

Ethics: ethical issues such as liability, public health reporting, medical coding, medical billing, etc.
Adjunct Therapies: topics that relate to therapies that directly enhance the practitioner’s knowledge or practice in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Examples include cupping, electro-acupuncture, color/sound therapy, auricular acupuncture, breathing exercises, etc
Biomedicine: Western medicine and practitioner
Business Development and Practice Management: topics that support business development such as different practice models, marketing and advertising skills, social media and network marketing

What is a learning assessment?

We have a sophisticated Learning Management System (LMS) that includes a process for consolidating the educational aspect of webinar activity by introducing a brief quiz after the event. This is a practical method for confirming participant engagement and comprehension and ensures a satisfactory level of understanding of the topic.

Typically, for each 1½ to 2 hour webinar we prepare between 8 and 10 quiz questions in the form of multiple choice questions (single correct answer), multiple answer (more than one answer correct), True/False and other question types that can be objectively marked using our online system.

What if I get an answer wrong?

You cannot change an answer once you have submitted it on the quiz. After successful completion of the quiz, the participant is able to review their responses in comparison to the correct answers. You may, however, re-sit the quiz.

When do I get my course certificate?

Currently we set the ‘pass’ mark for each quiz between 70 and 80% (depending on how many questions are involved). If a participant does not achieve the set pass mark, the certificate is not generated and the participant is required to re attempt the quiz.

On passing the assessment quiz, a certificate in the form of a PDF document is generated by our LMS. Each certificate includes the Participant’s Name, Course Name, Presenter Name, Date of completion, and CPD Credit Value (number of hours). Each certificate also includes a unique identification code that links the certificate to a database record of a participant’s quiz completion. This feature eliminates the potential for anyone to fraudulently generate their own certificate.

Where do I find the course materials?

We provide handouts (presentation notes) for a course from the instructor as “Course Materials”. You can download these on the individual module page using the link “Presentation Notes”. The course materials will open in Adobe Reader.

Course Approvals

Who can take an Acupuncture Professional course?

Acupuncture Professional courses are currently approved for acupuncture and oriental medicine practitioners and students. If you live in a state which does not require pre-approval for continuing education courses, these courses may be applicable to your profession. Please check with your state for more information

Are the courses accredited in my state?

Acupuncture Professional has been recognised as a provider in many countries where CPD/PDA course accreditation is required. Check with your local regulatory body to see if AcuPro will meet your needs.

What if the course is not approved in my state?

If the course you wish to take is not currently approved in your state, please send us an email at support@acupunctureprofessional.com. We will gladly assist you with submitting an individual application for approval in your state.

Computer Requirements

Why is the video not playing?

This may be due to a slow internet connection. What you can do is load the page and wait until the whole video has streamed (buffered) before hitting play.

What do I need to watch a course?

You will need a computer that connects to the internet in order to watch an Acupuncture Professional course. See the requirements below for the best viewing experience of our courses.

Screen resolution requirements

The Acupuncture Professional site is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. To change your computer’s screen resolution on a Windows operating system:

Do I need Adobe Flash Player?

Acupuncture Professional requires Adobe Flash Player for viewing the videos on your computer. We require Adobe Flash Player version 11 or later. Check what version you have installed to the right. However, our site is also iPad compatible, so you won’t need Flash Player if you are using your iPad to watch the videos.

What Internet speeds do I need

Acupuncture Professional requires internet speeds that allow you to stream video. Speed greater than 500 kbps is recommended

Users will have 1 year to view a course after purchase.

What is the refund/return/cancellation policy?

In the event that you are not satisfied with the service offered on the Site, then a refund may be offered. Refunds can only be made to the same credit card account as originally used in the purchase transaction. Details of any refund request should be made using email (support@acupunctureprofessional.com) and must be i) made within thirty (30) days of enrolment in the course and ii) before any assessment is completed and before a certificate of completion is issued. If a refund is offered the refund transaction will be made via our third party payment processor and may be less a processing fee of 15% of the price paid for the course or courses. Refunds are not available if requested later than thirty (30) days after enrolment or after a User has completed any assessment or after a certificate of completion has been issued.
